The fifth year of the World Series of Poker Europe has come and gone. Many Americans that can no longer play on the PokerStars download flew to Europe hoping to get some live action in. As a result, the single biggest payout in the short history of the event has been taken down by an American.
The WSOP Europe Main Event had a buy-in of €10,400. 593 players participated, which sent the prize pool rocketing up to €5,692,800 with €1,400,000 awaiting the victor.
Elio “smokrokflock” Fox came into the final table enjoying the chip lead, benefitting from a massive pot he won with TT in a three way preflop all-in against AK and AA. When he first saw that AA, he probably thought he was gonna have to go back to his hotel room to play on his 888 Poker download!
Max Silver was the first departure of the final table, wagering his final chips with AK against Chris “moorman1” Moorman’s JJ. Silver failed to connect and was out in 8th place.
All was quiet until the biggest pot of the tournament was played between Fox and Jake Cody. After a series of bets preflop, they ended up getting it all-in preflop for a 140 big blind pot: Cody’s JJ against Fox’s TT. The 876 flop gave Fox a few extra outs, and he put them to good use. A miraculous 9 appeared on the turn to give Fox a straight, which meant that Cody was drawing to the final two tens in the deck. Neither materialized, which sent Cody out in 7th place in brutal fashion.
Shawn “buck21” Buchanan was the next to bust, falling to the hands of Dermot Blain. But then Blain busted next in 5th place, and Brian Roberts busted in 4th. They might be disappointed but with their winnings, they probably won’t bother to clear their Roulette bonus anymore.
This left the talented trio of Fox, Moorman, and Moritz “catenaccio” Kranich to do battle. Kranich didn’t last too much longer as he raised all in with 54 suited and was called Fox’s 99. No miracle came and Kranich finished in 3rd.
Fox began the heads-up exchange with Moorman holding nearly two thirds of the chips in play. He never relinquished that lead, and the final hand saw Moorman holding the dominated A7 against Fox’s AT. Fox held on for the win and was crowned the champion!

PokerStars SuperStar Showdown
If you play nosebleed stakes and are considering a PokerStars download, you should keep in mind that they recently added Isildur1 to Team PokerStars Pro. PokerStars World Cup of Poker VII
The PokerStars download gives multiple ways to get to the PCA next year, but perhaps the most exciting promotion is the World Cup of Poker (WCP). A total of 56 national teams will compete to win their way to the live final table. The live final table is scheduled to take place next year in the Bahamas where 45 players will play for a total prize pool of $256k.
Each team consists of the country’s best online poker player, three satellite winners, and a PokerStars pro for a total of five players. To qualify as your country’s best player, you must be the highest ranked player of your country on the 2010 PokerStars tournament leaderboard. Most people will not place well enough on the leaderboard, however, so they must play satellites for a place on the team. Those new to poker will appreciate that these satellites are very affordable. The cash satellites are only $1 and there are both freeroll and FPP satellites. You might want to use the PokerStars bonus code and enter the $1 and FPP tournaments because everyone that tries them gets the opportunity in a $100,000 freeroll on January 30, 2011 if their region wins it all!
Once all the qualifiers are over, the teams are divided into divisions. Teams need to win their divisions to make it to the final round, so plenty of experience on money poker sites will be a big advantage. All Star Week
By offering $25,000 to play for, PokerStars is demonstrating that they are one of the top Texas Hold'em sites online. Every day during All Star Week, there will be five different heads-up matches. The winner of each match will receive $1,000 and a win for their team. At the end of it all, if Team PokerStars Pro has won more games, they will split the $25k prize pool. If the Challengers have won more matches, they will split the prize pool instead.
The site will be asking some of its elite players to take a break from Daniels Room poker to play on the team of Challengers. The team is selected via five freerolls, and each satellite awards five or six spots. To play in these freerolls, you will have to have made a final table of one of the PokerStars majors last year or you have to be a Supernova Elite. In addition to a spot on the team, each Challenger will also be given a $1,050 WCOOP ticket. The World Championship of Online Poker is likely take place in September of this year. The Big Game
One of
the best things about a PokerStars download is that there are always new
promotions to prevent you from getting bored. You’ll have the standard WSOP and

tours and sometimes they even host region-specific events. Today I am going to
talk about “The Big Game”, one of the latest and greatest promotions going on
right now for American and Canadian players. You may have even seen TV commercials about it –
the site has been advertising it in hopes that it will encourage a few new
players to make a PokerStars download.
The Big
Game is a new cash game in Vegas that will be shown on national TV. If you can
qualify for the show, PokerStars will give you $100,000 to play poker hands
against various poker professionals. Your goal is to turn this $100k into as
much money as possible because at the end of it all, you get to keep all the
profit you make.
You can
qualify for The Big Game by entering freerolls on one of the play money poker
sites, PokerStars.net. The freeroll qualifiers run four times per day until
June 25th, and the top 300 from each qualifier move on to Round 2.
If you can place in the top 1,000 players in Round 2, you get to move on to
Round 3, the final round.
It’ll be
tough, but your goal is to place in the top 200 of Round 3 so that you have the
